| Hiking Socks | Emergency Whistle |
| Warm clothes | Compass |
| First Aid Kit (See First Aid) | 1:25,000 Map of Area |
| Spare jumper/sweat shirt | Mittens or Gloves |
| Waterproofs (above and below waist) | Trousers (not jeans) |
| Torch, Spare Bulb and Batteries | Vacuum Flask |
| Emergency food | |
| Snack or packed lunch depending on length of hike | |
| 1 litre of Water/Hot drink depending on time of year and duration of Hike | |
